ABOUT Prairie Tails

Prairie Tails is a small home based cattery located in Pilot Butte, SK. Our goal is to breed purebred Siberians that are healthy and have great temperaments. We are only planning 1-2 litters per year to ensure that every kitten finds its furever home. Quality over quantity. Our cattery is registered with TICA.

Our home is a busy home. We have 3 dogs that are all rescues (Chloe, Ollie and Abby). We also have 1 senior rescue cat Bella and 3 Siberians (Prim that started our love for this breed, Dimitri our stud and Alexei our dam. They all live together in happily.

Our family enjoys the outdoors and take the dogs out frequently for adventures. We enjoy camping at our seasonal site and love going fishing.

I am an RN and have worked in many areas of healthcare but have a passion for little ones and this is why I am working in our local hospital on Mother Baby Unit. Breeding has always been something of interest to me and after falling in love with this breed I decided to move forward.

Why I Breed

The reason I chose to breed Siberians is because of their dog like personality and easy trainability. They are also one of the lowest producers of Fel d1 meaning that they are considered hypoallergenic. My daughter has allergies and really wanted to be able to show our cat affection but was never able to because of her reactions. A friend of mine introduced this breed to me because she too suffers from allergies to cats and was going through another breeder for her second kitten. After seeing them and hearing about them I just knew I had to have one. So together we both received our kittens from the same breeder and have been in love ever sense.

When looking into breeders I found that Saskatchewan did not really have many active breeders for Siberians and that got me thinking about how this amazing breed can be offered to those more local or even far away. I wanted to be able to provide others with low allergen kittens that have incredible personalities and temperaments. Not one is the same. They are all unique.

One day I received a message that a breeding pair needed to be rehomed and was asked if I could take them in. Of course I was excited and kindly accepted. Later that week Alexei and Dimitri came home. Alexei due any day and after delivery turned into an exceptional momma. We couldn't be happier with our decision.
